General Questions

Do you provide refunds?

Included in my fees is a non-refundable deposit, which is paid at the initial meeting. The deposit covers administrative costs and any legal documentation required under the Marriage Act 1961. The balance is payable 30 days prior to Ceremony date.  The remainder of my fees are refundable should the couple cancel the ceremony more than 30 days in advance of the scheduled ceremony date.

Do you provide Public Liability Insurance?

As a professional I provide the services that you can see and my fee also takes into account my Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance, and membership of professional associations which keeps me up to date on what is happening in the industry, and annual registration as a Civil Celebrant with the Attorney General’s Department

Do you travel and how much will is cost?

I am happy to discuss travel options within Australia if your ceremony is not taking place on the Sunshine Coast.  A travel fee will be applicable for locations outside of the Sunshine Coast and will depend on the distance I am required to travel.  If your ceremony is taking place at a remote venue or on board a vessel, there may also be an extra charge.

Do I need to have Original documents or can I have Certified Copies?

You will need to provide Original documents of your legitimacy to be married under Australian Law.  This includes:

  • An original Birth Certificate (if you were born in Australia) or an Australian Passport
  • A current Passport (if you were born Overseas)
  • Any Divorce or Nullity Papers (if you have been previously married)
  • A Death Certificate if that is how your previous marriage ended
  • Photo ID such as a valid Driver’s Licence
  • A Statutory Declaration (if applicable, declaring your legitimacy to be married under Australian Law)
  • Any Court Orders as required

Funerals & Memorials

Can I use a different Celebrant to the one included in the Funeral Directors Package?

With so many funerals today being conducted outside the “traditional” church service routine, the demand for funeral celebrants is increasing on a daily basis. Yes, you can contact your own Funeral Celebrant direct – you do not have to use a celebrant that a Funeral Director has included in their standard funeral packages.
